Global Goal 3 - Promote Wellbeing

29 March 2016

Every month in 2016 we're going to feature one of the Global Goals and show how we're working towards achieving it.

Global Goal 3 - Ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all

Some of the biggest threats to the health of the people in Londiani & Kipkelion come from disease, including HIV & AIDS, TB, malaria, maternal health and water borne diseases.   Those most vulnerable are mothers and babies and children under five years of age.
We work in the highlands and many parts are very remote and only accessible on foot. There are many things we can do to make a difference to people living in remote areas, away from adequate healthcare facilities. Health and wellbeing are at the heart of the majority of the programmes we run, whether they are held in schools, lifeskills in the community, training Community Health Workers, building smokeless stoves or providing ongoing support to the Londiani District hospital. For Friends of Londiani health is our Number One Goal and our work ties in with the majority of the targets for this goal to be achieved.
