Vote, vote, vote (today, tomorrow and right up until Friday afternoon!)
19 November 2013
Today we're asking you to make your — and our — presence felt on the internet — because there’s only a couple of days to go in the Better Together Video Competition. Why does that matter to FOL? Well, we're not only an entrant but, as you read this, one of the frontrunners (exactly how close to the front you can check by going to http://www.bettertogether.ie/videos/leaderboard). If you’d like to find out more have a look at our video at http://www.bettertogether.ie/video/making-difference-education-friends-londiani. It’s all about a topic — education — that is a core feature of our work. We’d be thrilled if you joined the many people who have voted for our film — via Facebook, Twitter, email or just clicking on the ‘vote’ button. You can vote daily, so please do. It’s not just about pride or publicity, although any legitimate and well-intentioned campaign that raises the profile of Friends of Londiani is welcome. And Better Together certainly gets our vote for good intentions. It’s a nationwide campaign that aims to build support for hundreds of charities, community groups, clubs and associations across the country by encouraging the public to support these good causes and make a difference in their communities. You can help Better Together — and us — to make a difference by voting. And if we win a prize? Well, there could be €1,000 involved, which would be a great help for our work. But first we need to ensure that our video gets as many votes as possible. Only the ten videos with the most votes in each category (small, medium and large organisations) will be shortlisted. A panel of independent judges will then select a single winner in each category. The winners will be announced at the Better Together Awards on Thursday, 12 December at Dublin Castle. But that is a long way off. For now, the time and date we care about is Friday, 22 November at 5pm when voting closes. So please vote. And we do hope you enjoy the film. We’re rather proud of it.
