Oh what a night!

Crowds gathered on the board walk outside the Clarion Hotel, Cork, for the Friends of Londiani Gathering. They were entertained by Cork Circus before moving into the hotel for a drinks reception. Katrina Emtage, and the Cork Adult Flute Ensemble (Cafe) entertained the crowd with magnificent flute playing. This was followed by Barbershop singing from The Polyphonics choir from Cork. Master of Ceremonies, Martina O’Donoghue of the Evening Echo and 103fm, introduced The Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Emmet O’Halloran, who welcomed the supporters and volunteers of the Friends of Londiani to the FOL Gathering. Sponsors of the evening included The Cliff House Hotel, Ardmore Co. Waterford; Actons Hotel, Kinsale; The Kilkenny Group; Clifford’s Foodstore, College Road, Hotel Kilkenny, Shandon Travel, Ballymaloe Cookery School, Stephen Pearce Pottery, Trabolgan Holiday Centre, Garryvoe Hotel – all Co Cork; Supervalu, Midleton, Co. Cork, Loyaltybuild , Gilberts of Cobh and many more local business and individuals. Maria Kidney, Chairperson of FOL gave a presentation after dinner where she outlined the future plans of FOL. She told stories of impact and change in the communities where FOL works, and said that FOL would build on this impact going into the future. She thanked all those who have volunteered and supported FOL over the years. She invited all present to join FOL on their journey as they continue to work in partnership with communities in Kenya. She concluded with words by Desmond Tutu – “Do your little bit of good where you are. It’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world “ The presentation ended with a short film from Kenya where people from the communities there greeted all those attending the Gathering. All Proceeds from this event will support FOL’s on-going health, education and water programmes in Kenya. FOL would like to say a huge thank you to all those who supported the Gathering event.
