The rain didn't stop the mountain challenge

01 October 2016

The rain just didn’t stop on Saturday 20 August for the Friends of Londiani Mountain Challenge.

Overall, nearly 60 people had planned and hoped to climb Carrauntouhill, Croagh Patrick and Lugnaquilla on the day of the Challenge. The rain was relentless but so were the Croagh Patrick and Lugnaquilla teams who managed to reach the top of both mountains, enduring a wet and misty climb.

The conditions at Carrauntouhill were the worst and it wouldn’t have been safe to walk there, so the group headed for Muckross Park in the morning and then despite the continuing rain headed up Torc Mountain in the afternoon. Well done to all involved and big thanks to those who led the groups and took on alternative routes in Kerry.

This was certainly a challenge given the bad weather conditions and Friends of Londiani is very grateful to all for their support and to those who got out on the day. Well done for braving the elements!

It's not too late to donate and show your support to the walkers who braved the elements for such a great cause. Text your donation to us using the details below. Thank you.
