Friends of Londiani Chairperson receives Inheritance Award

Maria Kidney, Chairperson of Friends of Londiani was honoured at the recent inheritance exhibition in Cork on October 11th, 2008.

The inheritance exhibition contains 100 portraits of Cork people since the 1700s who have made a contribution to the world. A portrait of each of those honoured is on display in the Cork Vision Centre. INHERITANCE consists of a series of exhibitions of more than 300 specially commissioned portraits by well known Cork artist Kevin Sanquest and accompanying biographies that have been researched by the National Folklore Project. Conceived by Michael Mulcahy, Chief Executive of the Cork based media company Progressive News &Media Limited INHERITANCE honours the memory of those who have given Cork so much while simultaneously creating a unique permanent collection which at the end of the series will be donated on permanent loan to Cork Civic Trust for enjoyment of the people of, and visitors to, Cork. Maria was nominated by the Kenyan Ambassador to Ireland, Mrs Catherine Muigai Mwangi who attended the function in the Cork Vision Centre.
