A team of six volunteers have journeyed to Kenya to begin their Harambee – a three week volunteering programme. After arriving safely in Kenya and spending a night in the capital city of Nairobi, they began the journey to Londiani via the Great Rift Valley, with the opportunity to take some beautiful photographs on the way.

The team is truly international and is made of up three Irish volunteers, one Australian, one Portuguese and one Kenyan, all giving up their time to support Friends of Londiani.

Harambee is a swahili word meaning ‘working together’ and this is what Friends of Londiani’s volunteering projects are all about. It's a short-term volunteer placement along with a training programme to enhance the experience for everyone involved. The team will work together with staff and volunteers from Friends of Londiani on a wider range of programmes including business, lifeskills, stove building, trekking route, remote emergency care course, and working with Londiani Sub County Hospital.
