22 November 2010

Last night the Harambee 2010 team of volunteers arrived home from Kenya.

The team have worked in the Kipkelion District for the past 3 weeks completing many projects in the areas of health, water and education.

They have many memories including:

  • The beauty of the mountains
  • The joy of clean water
  • One bag and a half of maize per person per year
  • Present of pumpkins from a bursary student to say thank you!
  • The face of a newborn child
  • The importance of maternal health
  • Pancakes and tomato porridge!
  • The new children’s ward in Londiani District Hospital
  • Rugby in Fr Martin’s house
  • The openess and willingness to learn from the maternal health attendees
  • Meeting people in their own homes during the surveys
  • The excitement of new communities
  • Painting hands in the newly painted children’s ward
  • The new FOL office and its community
  • The breathtaking view of the Rift Valley ... simply no other place
  • Full moon on the lake!
  • Meeting the FOL Kenyan Board
  • Java coffee!
  • First harvest of Bethel Honey – sampled by all!
  • The blessing of the new FOL office in Londiani.
  • The donkey who acted like an alarm clock every day
  • The lasting friendships ... and amazing times shared

Thank you to all those who supported Harambee 2010 in Kenya - the volunteers, their friends and families and those who made this project the success it was.

Asante Sana!
