Girls Scouts in Carmel IN thinking of girls in Londiani and aiming to make the world a better place. |
Celebrating World Water Day Girls Scouts from Troop 88 Carmel, Indiana USA have created a River of Change with their loose coins – this River of Change donation to Friends of Londiani will support bringing access to clean water to communities in Londiani and Kipkelion.
The Girl Scouts created their river to raise awareness of how challenging life is in Kenya without access to water. For girls their age in Kenya that means a long walk each day to collect water for their family. It means missing school, being sick more often, having less opportunities open to them as they get older.
Friends of Londiani water projects include rain water harvesting, gravity water fed schemes, bore holes for hand pumps. Access to water is improved for communities and also in schools as part of the aims of the Healthy Schools Programme.
