30 July 2016

blog images/Friends-of-Londiani-Internationl-Day-FriendshipToday (30th July) is International Day of Friendship, a day founded on the belief that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.

To mark the day, the United Nations encourages governments, international organisations and civil society groups to hold events, activities and initiatives that contribute to the efforts of the international community towards promoting a dialogue among civilizations, solidarity, mutual understanding and reconciliation.

A charity built on friendship

Friends of Londiani is proud to have been founded on friendship and this extended to the setting up of a charity working to improve the lives of local people, by working together, empowering each other and building a healthy, sustainable community.

Friendship is also central to our volunteering programme, where every year new friendships are formed as volunteers travel to work with our Kenyan team on Harambee. The friendships that are made on these trips last a lifetime and the stories they share help build awareness of our work.

Finally, friendship is key to our fundraising, where people come together to complete challenges to raise money for a shared goal. From the Mountain Challenge to a simple sale, bringing people together is an important way for us to raise money.

Coffee and Tea

The International Day of Friendship is a great way to connect with friends old and new and to show your support for Kenyan communities. You could host a Friends of Londiani coffee morning at any time to bring people together and raise much needed funds and awareness.
