World Environment Day 2015

05 June 2015

“Seven billion dreams, one planet"

Consume with care. That’s the message behind this year’s World Environment Day and one we take seriously wherever we are working in the world

In Londiani most of the challenges people face are because of the environment they live in. The natural environment, the landscape, weather and resources (or lack of), directly affects people’s health, education, economic opportunities and their chances of survival and success.

The way we live, wherever we are in the world, directly impacts the lives of other people and animals somewhere else. We see that every day in Londiani, where many people still can’t easily access clean water or sustainable fuels to keep them warm and fed.

Human prosperity doesn’t have to cost the earth. Living sustainably is about doing more and better with less. It is about knowing that rising rates of natural resource use and the environmental impacts that occur are not a necessary by-product of economic growth.

If you want to see how lack of access to clean water directly affects people living in Kenya, then please take some time to find out more about our projects, click here.
