Kenyan medical exchange
As part of the partnership between Friends of Londiani, Ndubusat Bethel Medical Clinic and Irish Aid, FOL were delighted to welcome two employees from the clinic to Ireland on a month long medical exchange in April 2008. Ben Cheruiyotis a Laboratory Technician in the clinic and Stephen Cheruiyotis the nurse-in-charge. While here, they worked in:
- Mayo General Hospital
- Mercy Hospital, Cork
- Cork University Hospital
FOL is very appreciative of the help and support the staff and management of the hospitals provided. Ben also visited the Munster Regional Transfusion Centre in Cork and they both attended a project management course in Kimmage Development Studies Centre in Dublin on Proposal Development and Grant Management. They also visited some of FOL’s major supporters, companies, schools and community groups. As part of their visit to Ireland Stephen and Ben completed all 26.2 miles of the Connemarathon on Sunday 6th April – despite the hail, rain and snow that prevailed on the day! They were guest speakers in the Irish Aid Volunteering Centre on World Health Day, and again in UCC on a lecture on sustainable community development. FOL would like to acknowledge the support of Irish Aid who made this exchange programme possible.
